WHEN PURPOSE MEET’S STRUCTURE: THE STORY OF SUCA’S FIRST GRADUATES

“This week was special, so special that I can only say things will always fall in place at their time.”

Two years ago, what began as an idea scribbled in a notebook on how to create a program that helps professionals find clarity, build character, and step into leadership with intention has now turned into something much larger than I imagined. This weekend, we watched the first two Starring Ur Career Ambition (#SUCA) cohorts walk across their finish line after twelve months of what I can only call a deliberate recalibration of life: character development, system building, purpose entrenchment, and leadership wiring.

Beyond Motivation: A Practical Journey

From the start, SUCA was never designed as a motivational seminar. The world is full of pep talk and motivational programs that fade as soon as the applause dies down. We wanted something different. SUCA had to be practical, deliberate, and anchored in lived experience. Coaching and mentorship, not just teaching. Handholding from those who had walked the journey before, stretching out their hands to shorten the distance for others.

I remember one graduate describing it as “scaffolding for a building you’re constructing you still do the work, but you know it won’t collapse.” That is what SUCA has meant for many: a structure, a steady hand, and a sense of not walking alone.

The Reminder of Bridges and Bonds

At the graduation, Father Dr. Kanja shared words that will stay with me: “Networks are like bridges. They get you across to the other side you would never reach on your own.” His words captured the essence of why we built SUCA as a community, not a classroom.

He added another reminder one both simple and profound: never leave your loved ones behind even as you scale. It was a sobering call in a world that celebrates individual achievement but often forgets the people who make those achievements possible.

Building Systems, Building People

The truth is what got us here won’t get us there. To reach the next level, we’ve had to build systems that sustain accountability, nurture character, and create a sense of belonging. That is what makes SUCA not just a program, but a living community capable of evolving with every new cohort.

As a facilitator, seeing Cohorts 1 and 2 graduate was more than a professional milestone it was a personal affirmation. This is the work worth doing. To sit in a room with professionals who started uncertain and now speak with clarity of purpose and confidence in direction humbles me.

What Lies Ahead

We begin SUCA 4 this October, and if the past two years are any indication, it will only get better. Enrollment is ongoing, and as I tell everyone who asks this is not just about signing up for a class—it’s about committing to a journey.

Because in the end, what makes SUCA powerful is not me, or any one facilitator. It is the systems, the community, the accountability, and the character we have built together.

And as I looked at the graduates this week, I was reminded: things always fall in place, but only when we dare to start.
